This innovative two-day conference brought together staff from clinical, public health, and community-based substance use disorder programs and HIV teams to focus on the current state of the opioid epidemic. The wrap-around services, intensive case management, human touch, compassion, and consumer activism in the HIV epidemic helped turn the tide, and many of the lessons from HIV models were shared to decrease stigma, promote treatment, and support caregivers and providers.
