The TGNB persons’ needs have far too often not been prioritized.  The lack of gender affirming care creates a unique challenge that must be addressed to expand access and engage TGNB in biomedical services. The Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC), through its capacity building assistance program (CBA), in collaboration with a group of consultants with lived experience have worked together to codevelop resources to elevate the needs of TGNB in prevention settings and incentivize the dialogue between providers and patients.

This presentation will cover the how identity consultants and the CBA programs have worked together to develop resources which centered on building change through a series of pathways including:

Providing upskilling information that empowers providers to increase the quality of care they provide to the TGNB communities.

2.           Leveraging the cohort model of an LC to build connections amongst LC participants and panelists to support each other in continuing to champion, build skills, and sustain progress towards system change.

3.           Centering the lived experience of TGNB on educating providers, modeling skills for providers on the critical importance of listening to the voices of the communities they serve as the experts on the care they need.

4.           Bringing together providers and TGNB experts through capacity building assistance services (CBA)-which offers training, technical assistance, and information on products to improve the competencies workforce striving to reduce HIV prevalence and improve health outcomes in the United States. This ensures the LC attendees are aware of the supports to further deepen and sustain their learnings.

Objectives:

• Name at least two steps on how to leverage identity consultants to create meaningful and impactful programming and services.
• List two tools of promising practices to increase access to gender-affirming services for transgender and gender non-binary communities.
• Identify at least two capacity building assistance strategies to engage transgender and gender non-binary communities in a culturally responsive manner.
