This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of HIV care in the primary care setting, beginning with identifying patients who qualify for routine HIV screening and selecting appropriate testing based on symptoms and exposure history. It will review best practices for sensitively and effectively disclosing a new HIV diagnosis, followed by an introduction to first-line antiretroviral therapy regimens. Additionally, learners will learn important differences in cancer screening and preventive care recommendations for people living with HIV. Finally, it will cover how to identify appropriate candidates for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to support HIV prevention efforts.
